Project Description

East Rand Mall is situated a mere 7km away from Africa’s busiest airport, OR Tambo, and is conveniently attached to South Africa’s largest Pick ‘n Pay Hypermarkets. The shopping center has over 4,500 parking spaces in 3 different areas. The mall decided to deploy an Intelligent Parking Guidance System in 2007 to help its clients find a parking space more easily.

This project determines space availability from the cash management system. Intelligent Devices developed a driver that connects the parking guidance system to the existing cash management system to receive parking availability information. This data is then collected and displayed on over 7 external VMS signs around the shopping center. This project included supplying, installation and support of intelligent parking devices and software.
