The Virginia Department of Transportation recently launched their “Reach the Beach” campaign with the help of Delcan Technologies. The program assists motorists in determining the quickest route to the beach using signs that display real-time traffic information. Instead of guessing the fastest route, motorists can now clearly see the time it will take to reach the Virginia Beach and Outer Banks areas.

“The signs are part of an ongoing initiative to improve the quality of transportation services in the commonwealth, and are being activated in time for the summer vacation travel season,” said Transportation Secretary Sean T. Connaughton.

Working with our partner, Iteris, Delcan Technologies provided the three-character, NTCIP compliant signs to display the data. Additionally, our team assisted with the configuration of the wireless cell modems which connect the signs to the traffic management system.
